We have all watched...
We have all watched the events unfold in this country over the past few weeks. After much thought and reflection, the Oregon Ravens needed to speak out and let the community and our players know where we stand.
Oppression and systematic racism along with police brutality has been affecting Black People for over 400 years, and most of America has remained silent and turned a blind eye.
To continue to ignore the issue is to condone the system of racism and oppression.
The Oregon Ravens refuse to stand silent and support such a system. We are deeply saddened and appalled that it continues to take acts of senseless police brutality to awaken America to the ongoing racism that continues to pervade in this country.
We are amazed at the recent outcry and solidarity that has risen throughout the world in support of Black Lives Matter and the fight against racism and oppression of Black People.
The Oregon Ravens pledge to work and support other organizations working toward justice and equality. We pledge to promote inclusion and bridge divides through collective actions and civic engagement. We will build partnerships with others in the community to battle racism and oppression.
